2.OnePlus 10T

Verdict

Top 10 android phonThe OnePlus 10T is a stellar performer and the device is also backed by a reliable software experience and long-lasting battery life. The phone’s shortcomings are amplified only by its choice of camera hardware which, does not befit its price tag.

The lowdown

The OnePlus 10T draws a lot of parallels to the OnePlus 10 Pro (review) in the design department. Now, the 10 Pro was wrapped in a matte finish, whereas, the OnePlus 10T opts for a glossy look. Barring that, however, the devices look quite similar and the 10T even features its pricier sibling’s distinctive stove top-like camera array. Top 10 android phone Do note that the Hasselblad branding is absent on the 10T, and the positioning of the LED flash module, as well as the tertiary sensor, has been switched. And, much to my dismay, the device doesn’t ship with an alert slider on the side, a component which has for long, been vital to OnePlus’ brand identity.

Apart from that, it is difficult to distinguish the 10T from the 10 Pro, at least from a distance. The USB Type-C port, speaker grille, and dual-SIM card tray all find their way to the bottom. A power button is present on the right side of the phone, within reach of my thumb, while the volume rocker can be found towards the left fascia.

On the display side of things, the phone gets a 6.7-inch, FHD+ (2,412×1,080), Fluid AMOLED panel that can refresh at 120Hz. Unlike the OnePlus 10 Pro, the display does not have LTPO 2.0 technology but it can oscillate between 60Hz and 120Hz. OnePlus has typically been at the top of the game as far as the viewing experience goes and the OnePlus 10T tries to follow along that path.

4.OnePlus Nord 2T 5G

The OnePlus Nord range has been a runaway hit in India, and for good reason – after all, the handsets retail at wallet-friendly price points and despite that, retain most, if not all the company’s core features that usually makes a OnePlus phone stand out. And, sure enough, a recent Counterpoint report substantiates the same, with the Chinese tech giant benefitting from increased sales spearheaded by the Nord range (59 percent YoY, to be precise) in 2021. Well, it looks like the company wants to strike when the iron is hot as the brand recently announced the latest entrant in the Nord series dubbed the   Priced starting Rs 28,999, the Nord 2T has to contend with a few devices in the mid-range and budget flagship space.

The OnePlus Nord 2T’s physical appearance mimics the iQOO Z6 Pro (review) in more ways than one. For starters, much like the Z6 Pro, the Nord 2T also ships with a massive camera array that houses three sensors. In fact, barring the positioning of the LED flash module, it’s hard to tell one phone from the other, at least from the back. Thankfully, OnePlus has launched the device in unique colourways, including the gorgeous Grey Shadow hue sent to me for review. The paint job looks elegant and it reminded me of the company’s sandstone finish devices. The icing on the cake is that the back of the phone is layered in Corning’s Gorilla Glass 5 and it even offers a matte finish which keeps smudges at bay.

The 8.2mm frame is relatively thin, although I do feel that OnePlus could have shaved off a few more millimeters, given how the Nord 2T doesn’t come with a headphone jack either. Be that as it may, the smartphone offers a robust in-hand feel and despite that, tips the scales at just 190 grams. And, you’ll be elated to know that the company has retained the iconic OnePlus alert slider with the device as well. So, you can switch the smartphone’s sound profiles in the blink of an eye. As for the rest of the I/O, the handset ships with a USB Type-C port, and a speaker grille positioned at the bottom. Thankfully, the phone offers stereo output, with the earpiece doubling up as a secondary speaker unit.

5.Xiaomi Redmi Note 11 Pro Plus 5

top 10 Android phone The Redmi Note series of phones have for long, been the go-to device for consumers looking for an affordable, feature-packed Android, and for good reason. You see, the Note range is replete with capable all-rounders that don’t just perform well, but come toting gorgeous screens and a versatile array of cameras too. In fact, the company’s Redmi Note 10 Pro Max (review) is still hailed as one of the best mid-rangers in the sub Rs 20K segment. Be that as it may, the brand recently unveiled the successor to the Redmi Note 10 Pro Max in the form of the Redmi Note 11 Pro+. Suffice it to say, Redmi’s latest offering has some pretty big shoes to fill so, let’s find out if the phone is worth your hard-earned bucks.

Verdict

The Redmi Note 11 Pro+ is a decent mid-ranger, although, the device falls slightly short of expectations. Be that as it may, the handset offers a serviceable Android experience, provided you can look past its shortcomings.

The lowdown

The Redmi Note 11 Pro+ is a head-turner, to say the least. The device is available in three different hues, however, I was sent the Phantom White variant for review. Now, I haven’t seen the other colourways in person but, truth be told, I had my heart set on the white colourway from the word go. To wit, Redmi has struck the perfect balance between a classy and flaunt-worthy design. The smartphone’s white back, albeit eye-catchy, is void of any shimmery glitter or gaudy decals.

Instead, top 10 Android phone the handset employs a tasteful matte finish that doesn’t just feel velvety to the touch, but it also helps keep smudges and stains at bay. That’s not all, as the phone comes layered with Corning’s Gorilla Glass v5 on both, the front, as well as the back, thereby ensuring your device stays somewhat sheathed from scratches and scuffs too

6.Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 4 – Best foldable

Pros

  • Fast, flagship performance
  • Impressive battery life
  • Great main camera
  • Fun design

Cons

  • Durability still a doubt
  • 25W charging is sluggish
  • No telephoto

Our Verdict

The Galaxy Z Flip 4 doesn’t change a lot, but improvements to battery life and camera performance address the main flaws of last year’s model and should help convince anyone on the fence. I still have my doubts about durability, but right now foldables don’t get better than this.

Samsung’s Galaxy Z Flip 3 marked a massive step forwards for the company’s foldable line. It was a revolution in design, practicality, and pricing that took the compact folding phone from niche tech nerd fantasy to a mainstream proposition.

12 months on, it’s fair to say Samsung hasn’t got the same scale of upgrade up its sleeve again. Perhaps understandably, the Z Flip 4 is a comparatively minor upgrade, more iteration than revolution.

That’s not to be critical though: I gave the Z Flip 3 a glowing review last year, and the Flip 4 is quite simply even better. Most importantly, while Samsung’s upgrades are few, they’re also focussed, and the company has improved both the battery life and camera – two of the only areas where the last Flip fell behind.

Design & build

  • Slightly streamlined design
  • Improved durability
  • Long-term longevity still in doubt

7.Nothing Phone (1)

Pros

  • Unique, eye-catching design
  • Impressive dual rear camera
  • Wireless charging

Cons

  • Average performance
  • Below average battery life
  • A little buggy

Our Verdict

The Nothing Phone (1) isn’t the smartphone revolution we were promised, but it is an impressive, affordable Android phone with respectable specs. The incandescent design won’t be to everyone’s taste, but you can’t call it boring.

It’s hard to imagine that any company releasing its first smartphone could generate the hype that Nothing has for the Phone (1), but hype can be a double-edged sword.

The trickle of teasers certainly built excitement and anticipation, and the 100,000+ people who signed up to the waitlist to buy the phone prove it converted into sales, but has it put impossible pressure on a device that is, ultimately, just a phone?

Perhaps, but it helps that Nothing has nailed the phone part. The Phone (1) may not be life-changing, or the radical break from industry norms that founder Carl Pei would like you to think it is, but this is a well-specified, affordable phone that offers excellent value for money

top 10 Android phones The Vivo X80 Pro comes with a 6.78-inch AMOLED display and a refresh rate of up to 120Hz. Under the hood, the Vivo X80 Pro comes with a Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 SoC and runs on Android 12-based OriginOS. The phone also features a quad rear camera setup, including a 50-megapixel Samsung ISOCELL GNV primary sensor, a 48-megapixel ultra-wide Sony IMX598 shooter, a 12-megapixel Sony IMX663 sensor with a portrait lens, and an 8-megapixel sensor with a periscope-shaped ultra-telephoto lens. There’s Wi-Fi 6, Bluetooth v5.2, NFC, and Infrared (IR) blaster wireless connectivity options. Keeping the lights on is a 4,700mAh battery that supports 80W Flash Charge wired fast charging and 50W wireless charging.

vivo phones are seldom easy for us as there are often differences between versions sold in China and ones for outside markets – such is the case here as well. The proprietary software layer on top of Android is one of those (Origin in China, Funtouch elsewhere), but this year there are also two different chipsets – one’s the Dimensity 9000, the other is the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1. Materials and available colorways will vary from region to region, too. We’re reviewing a global variant of the X80 Pro with a Snapdragon/Funtouch combo.

With that distinction hopefully cleared up, let’s outline what’s new. The main camera is using an exclusive Samsung sensor, albeit based on the familiar 1/1.3″ one in previous generations. The shorter of the two telephoto cameras, meanwhile, has gained a gimbal – a signature vivo touch. On the flipside, the ultrawide has been denied that extra stability now – perhaps the tele has better use for it anyway. The an 8MP stabilized periscope camera remains unchanged, as does the 32MP selfie unit.

top 10 Android phones The Galaxy Z Fold 3 features a 6.2-inch AMOLED display on the outside that supports a resolution in 2262×832 pixels. Inside, the Galaxy Z Fold 3 comes with a a 7.6-inch foldable AMOLED panel which supports a resolution of 2208×1768 pixels. The display also hides a 4MP in-display camera. Compared to the Z Fold 2, the phone gets faster refresh rates on both the screens as they support 120Hz refresh rate. Under the hood, the Galaxy Z Fold 3 is powered by Qualcomm’s latest Snapdragon 888 SoC. This is paired to 12GB of RAM and 256GB of UFS 3.1 internal storage. The foldable smartphone packs a 4,400mAh battery that supports 25W charging.

The Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 3 is the company’s most ambitious, productivity-centric smartphone yet. This phone is a little bit slimmer than its predecessor when unfolded and the overall weight is a bit lower at 271g (vs 282g), but it’s still just as chunky in its folded state. The outer display or ‘cover screen’ on the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 3 is more or less the same as it was on the Galaxy Z Fold 2, except that it now supports an adaptive 120Hz refresh rate. The main attraction is of course the folding 7.6-inch AMOLED display which has a higher resolution of 2,208×1,768, along with HDR10 playback and a 120Hz refresh rate.

You get a top-tier Qualcomm Snapdragon 888 SoC plus ample RAM and storage. The Galaxy Z Fold 3 also supports Samsung’s S Pen ‘Fold Edition’ and the new S Pen Pro. It’s also now IPX8 rated for water resistance. Samsung’s own apps are already optimised for multi-window use but the company has also collaborated with others including Spotify for better experiences on the Galaxy Z Fold 3.

If you’re someone who wants to live on the bleeding edge of tech, then the Galaxy Z Fold 3 is possibly the most refined foldable in the market right now.
